About AMA Community Engagement
Each year, AMA Omaha gives back to our community through our Community Engagement Initiative. We adopt a local charity partner for the board year and offer that organization marketing support, fundraising and more. AMA Omaha is committed to bringing positivity and change to our community. We believe in making an impact, connecting to others and improving the lives around us.
2022 - 2023 AMA Community Engagement Partner: Nebraska VR
The mission at Nebraska VR is to help people with disabilities prepare for, obtain, and maintain employment while helping businesses recruit, train, and retain employees with disabilities. Nebraska VR is a state-federal vocational rehabilitation program that operates in all 50 states as an employment program for people who experience a disability. Everything Nebraska VR does and all of the services we provide are for the purpose of helping people with disabilities prepare for, find and/or keep a job. The program is voluntary, and the services provided will be specific to each individual’s needs. As part of their guiding values and principles, they treat others with respect and importance regardless of position or role. They will be honest and just. They inspire hope in those they serve.
Youth Emergency Services (YES) assists youth experiencing homelessness and near homelessness by providing critically-needed resources which support them in their desire to be self-sufficient. Their overall goal is to help youth in crisis get back on their feet in whatever ways they can. After meeting their immediate needs for food, shelter, clothing and safety, YES creates a support system to help these youth flourish.
The Nebraska Tech Collaborative (NTC) – an Aksarben workforce initiative – is business-led, and comprised of over 100 business, government, education, and non-profit partners all working together to drive results and scale to build a world-class tech ecosystem in Nebraska.
The NTC is going to work to increase the number of tech jobs in Nebraska by 10,000 and the number of new tech companies in Nebraska by 300 by 2025. We need everyone involved – businesses, government, educators, non-profits – all working together as one with one message to drive scale.
The HMC mission is to provide food, clothing, healthcare and a way forward to people severely affected by poverty in the Omaha area.
In February 2020, AMA Omaha partnered up with ROAST – Aksarben/ A Hill of Beans Coffee Roasters to support HMC during a Valentine’s Pot Pack sale! We are thankful for valuable community partners like these who support the Center and help us spread the word of our mission – #DignityForAll.
